How to make a Wealth Bowl
Making your very own wealth bowl doesn’t take much time at all.
Would you like to bring some prosperity into your life? Try creating your own wealth bowl using this step by step guide.
First thing’s first: Let’s learn more about feng shui.
Feng shui can be complicated! Let me break it down for you.
Directly translated—> “wind & water”. Think of it as a flow that goes through your surroundings. This flow can either bring harmony… or create chaos.
Some important concepts:
- Yin and Yang: Positive and negative energies.
- The key here is – you guessed it. Balance.
- You arrange and position items, focusing on creating harmony.
- Chi: Is considered the “life force”.
- Everything in your environment is connected by this energy.
- When there is clutter- chaos ensues, and chi cannot flow through your home.
- 5 Elements: Water, fire, earth, metal, & wood. Advanced – we will talk about this in a later post. Update: Check out this post for more info!
- Each of these elements should be present in each area to achieve balance, by stimulating chi.
- There are 3 relationships that the elements have with one another: controlling, reductive and nourishing.
For instance:Let us focus on wood. Water nourishes wood, metal controls, fire reduces.
Phew! Are you following me? Take a deep breath and exhale. It’s time for the good stuff.
In feng shui, a bagua map is used to divide the home into 8 different areas, or sectors. Each of these areas correspond to a different blessing.
- Fame & Reputation
- Love & Marriage
- Children & Creativity
- Helpful people & Travel
- Career
- Knowledge & Self-cultivation
- Health & Family
- Wealth and Prosperity
Chinese tradition considers the left corner (Southeast) of your home to be the “wealth and prosperity” sector.
This is going to be the area in your home where you will place your wealth bowl.
Now that we know the basics: you can create your very own wealth bowl
1. Search for a glass bowl.
Marshal’s and Home Goods have a great selection of affordable glassware. If you’re on a tight budget, make sure to check out thrift stores and other second hand shops.
Aim for 6-10 inches in diameter. You don’t want anything smaller than that or some of your items may not fit.
Once you find your perfect bowl–add some ‘filler’ to the bottom. A mix of brightly-colored decorative rocks and seashells worked fine for me. But this is your bowl, remember? Add some personality to it and be creative.
2. Fill with the following crystals:
-
- Aventurine
-
- Citrine
-
- Malachite
-
- Pyrite (fool’s gold)
-
- Tiger’s eye
Other crystals to use: Labradorite, Green and Yellow Calcite, Lapis Lazuli, Amethyst, Flourite, and Sodalite.
If you’re new to crystals, don’t worry. Here are a few links to sites and books to help get you started.

Pinterest is another great place you can refer to.
3. Find a miniature laughing Buddha.
The laughing Buddha is considered to be a token of good luck and fortune. It can be hard to find a good quality miniature for the right price.
Crystal shops sometimes sell them specifically for feng shui purposes. This is where I first decided to hunt, as it was time to look for new stones. The happy Buddha was grinning from the top shelf, conveniently placed next to the register.
It was priced at about $12- kinda steep. However, that particular Buddha miniature was holding a golden ingot, which is another feng shui symbol of wealth.
Say you don’t feel like venturing out to a crystal shop, maybe it’s not your thing. Online shopping is another easy and sometimes more affordable option. Who doesn’t love amazon prime? Quick shipping? On Sundays too?? Yes please.
4. Lucky Chinese gold coins & golden ingot
Traditionally, lucky Chinese gold coins have been used to attract wealth, good fortune, and protection. These double sided coins symbolize – yes- Yin and Yang. They are usually tied with a red string or ribbon in groups of 3. The ribbon is said to be the force which activates the energy of the coins.
Gold ingots used to be the currency of the affluent Chinese. The shape of the ingot is symbolic as well, the boat is like money flowing to you.
5. Wealth trees are beautiful addition to your bowl.
Try to find one with a crystal base, such as these lovely pieces. If you’d prefer a resin base, they are also very beautiful.
6. Incorporate your Chinese zodiac symbol.
Not sure what your symbol is?
You may have seen bright red placemats at Chinese restaurants with these particular zodiac symbols around the border. Each sign corresponds to a different set of personality traits.
Use your birth year to see what your animal is. Then, search for a feng- shui statue/figurine to place in your bowl.
7. Add personal touches.
Anything that symbolizes wealth to you. Toss in some inexpensive acrylic faux diamonds or pearls. Perhaps some Spanish doubloon replicas? You can even paint rocks with acrylic gold paint to represent the kind of wealth you want in your life. Don’t be bashful!
8. Consider a Lucky Cat – Maneki Neko
The Lucky Cat, or Maneki Neko has been a traditional Feng Shui symbol for centuries.
According to this article from Feng Shui Beginner, the color you chose will activate positive energy to help different areas of your life. Calico, Gold and Purple colored felines are associated with wealth and prosperity.
- Calico– feeling lucky yet? The most traditional choice & luckiest of all the colors.
- Gold– perfect for entrepreneurs. These are usually spotted waving from displays in businesses.
- Purple– another great choice to bring good fortune. Associated with wisdom & personal development.
When creating my wealth bowl last year, it was difficult to find a decent-priced Lucky Cat. Now, they’re super affordable. Skip the coffee for a couple of days, then earn that cash right back. *wink*
Tips:
- Place your bowl next to a selenite tower. Selenite is known to amplify the properties of other stones.
- A live Jade plant is also said to enhance prosperity, success, and luck.
- Make sure your clean your bowl every once and awhile. Believe me, the dust collects: which is no bueno.
- Do not allow the area to become cluttered, as this disrupts chi.

Glad I didn’t scare you away. It really is a broad topic that was particularly difficult to break down. Check out my most recent Feng Shui post when you get a chance. Thanks for the good vibes!
